1. Who we are
The Gutter Guys Sydney is an owner-operated pressure washing and exterior cleaning business based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. In this policy, references to “personal information” have the meaning given in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. Information we collect
The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:
- Contact details, your name, phone number and email address.
- Job details, the property address and suburb where work is to be carried out, the services you’re interested in, and any notes you provide about the job.
- Communications, the contents of enquiries, messages, calls and emails between us.
- Photos, before-and-after images of the work area, which we take to document the job (these may show parts of your property).
- Website usage data, limited technical information such as your browser type, device and pages viewed (see “Cookies & analytics” below).
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health or financial account information) and ask that you do not send it to us.
3. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you:
- complete the quote request form on our website;
- call, text or email us;
- book or receive a service from us; or
- otherwise communicate with us.
We may also collect limited information automatically when you browse our website, and occasionally from third parties such as a referrer who passes on your details with your consent.
4. How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote;
- schedule, carry out and follow up on the services you request;
- contact you about your job, including sending before-and-after photos;
- process payments and keep business records;
- respond to questions, feedback or complaints; and
- improve our services and website.
We will only use your information for the purpose it was collected, a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where you have consented.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us run our business, for example, our website host and form provider (Netlify), our email delivery service (Resend), the database that stores our customer records (Neon), website analytics (Google Analytics, see section 6), and any payment or accounting tools we use.
- Address lookup providers, if you use the address suggestions on our quote form, the text you type into the address field is sent to a geocoding service to find matching addresses. Only the address text is sent, never your name or contact details, and you can ignore the suggestions and type your address manually.
- Anyone you ask us to, such as a property manager or strata company involved in the job.
- Authorities or others where we are required or permitted by law.
These providers are only given the information they need to perform their function, and are expected to protect it.
6. Cookies & analytics
We use Microsoft Clarity on selected public website pages to understand page use, clicks, scrolling and usability problems. Clarity can receive technical information such as device details, IP address, page URLs and masked page interactions. All page text and form content are masked. Our staff tools and private customer documents are excluded. This installation denies advertising and analytics cookie storage, so cross-page and repeat-visitor measurement is limited. An explicit analytics denial or supported Global Privacy Control signal prevents loading. Pages with unrecognised link parameters are excluded. Microsoft processes collected information under its privacy statement.
When you request a quote, we store a random request reference with the enquiry so repeated deliveries do not create repeated enquiries. Where your browser permits, session storage keeps the first public page you visited, the referring website domain and recognised source and medium labels from a link. These details help us understand which website journeys lead to enquiries. Other link parameters, form answers and uploaded files are not included in this website measurement data.
Website measurement may also record quote-button placement, form opening and starting, submission attempts, validation categories, submission failures and confirmed requests. These events do not contain your typed answers, contact details or request reference. An explicit analytics denial disables these additional analytics events.
Our public website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site, for example which pages are viewed, roughly where visits come from, and whether a quote request was sent or a quote visit booked. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your device, browser, approximate location and pages viewed. It does not receive your name, phone number, email or address. Google processes this information under its own privacy terms, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. Our site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those files. Our staff-only admin dashboard (not accessible to visitors) does not use analytics and uses your browser's local storage, not cookies, to keep you signed in.
7. Storage & security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information is stored in our email, phone and any business tools we use, which are protected by passwords and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it to provide our services and meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
9. Accessing & correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it’s inaccurate or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. There is no charge to access your information.
10. Marketing & opting out
If you have a job done with us, we may email you occasional maintenance reminders about the services you used. You can choose not to receive these when you submit our quote form (untick the reminders box), and every reminder email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Opting out of reminders never affects booking-related emails such as appointment confirmations. Our email service may also record whether an email was delivered or opened, which helps us know our messages are getting through. You can also tell us at any time that you no longer wish to receive marketing by contacting us directly, and we will action your request promptly.
11. Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we use store data on servers located outside Australia, for example, our website host, email delivery service and customer database are hosted in the United States, and address lookups may be processed in Europe. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
12. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with the “Last updated” date above. We encourage you to review it periodically.
