The starting ranges in TGG’s quote form

The quote form starts with the number of storeys because it is one of the property details that affects the work. The current base ranges are:

A house that is one storey at the front and two at the back needs that detail explained. Tell us about sloping ground, access to the rear and any roof sections that cannot be reached in the same way as the rest of the home. The range is a useful starting point; the property still needs a suitable scope and access plan.

How roof type and trees change the estimate

In TGG’s form, a metal roof with a few trees adds $50 to the base estimate. A metal roof with lots of trees adds $100. The form does not apply that particular tree adjustment to a tile roof. These are TGG’s quoting inputs, not a rule that every metal roof takes the same time or that tile roofs cannot have heavy debris.

For example, a two-storey property with a metal roof and a few trees produces an indicative range of $400 to $500. With lots of trees, the range becomes $450 to $550. These are worked examples of the form calculation, not completed jobs or customer invoices.

If the choices do not describe your home well, explain the difference in the enquiry notes. An unusual roof layout, a difficult access point or an existing gutter guard can need a closer look before the scope is confirmed.

Compare the work included, not just the lowest number

TGG’s gutter-cleaning service includes clearing gutters by hand, checking and flushing downpipes, taking the debris away and providing before-and-after photos. Ask another provider to describe their scope just as clearly if you are comparing quotes.

Check whether all roof sections are covered, what the provider will do about restricted access, and whether the quoted downpipe work concerns the visible roof-drainage system or something below ground. A low number with an unclear scope is difficult to compare with an all-in price for the agreed work.

Photos of your own gutters matter because the work is usually out of sight. They show the condition before and after the visit, rather than asking you to infer the result from the amount of debris in a bag.

Cleaning and repairs should be separate decisions

A gutter that overflows because it is full of leaves may need clearing. A split, leaking joint or damaged section can need minor gutter repairs or a replacement assessment as well. Cleaning does not reverse corrosion or repair a hole.

What to send for a useful quote

• The number of storeys, including any different heights at the rear.
• Whether the roof is tile, metal or something you are unsure about.
• How much tree cover there is, and whether gutter guard is fitted.
• Where water overflows or leaks, and when the gutters were last cleaned.
• Ground-level photos and any access restrictions.
